Principals' sabbatical reports added in May 2011 look at:
- whether the application of restorative justice principles in primary schools is an effective way to help children manage their own behaviour (Sue Heath, Hawea Flat School).
- the effects of learning a musical instrument on the academic achievement of students, particularly Pasifika and Māori students (Bruce Henley, Catholic Cathedral College).
- the implementation of Key Competencies into primary school programmes and the reporting of progress/achievement of children in the Key Competencies (Paul Kingston, Papanui School).
- how other similar schools use their city environment to enhance learning (Bill Turley, Sacred Heart School, Thorndon).
